A Surgical Team At Royal Papworth Hospital Has Carried Out The UK's First Lung Transplant Using A New Machine Which 'Reconditions' Donor Organs
"The team, led by Mr Marius Berman, Mr Giuseppe Aresu, and Mr Pradeep Kaul, used a technique called ex-vivo lung perfusion (EVLP). This technique takes donated lungs that are initially considered marginally acceptable or marginally unacceptable for transplant, reconditions them outside the body in a special machine—the XPS system from XVIVO—and can make them suitable for donation."

FDA Approves Alyftrek (Vanzacaftor/Tezacaftor/Deutivacaftor) For The Treatment Of Cystic Fibrosis
"Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved ALYFTREK (vanzacaftor/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor), a once-daily next-in-class triple combination cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) in people 6 years and older who have at least one F508del mutation or another mutation in the CFTR gene that is responsive to ALYFTREK."
The First New Schizophrenia Drug In Decades
"Cobenfy is a new medication approved by the FDA for treating schizophrenia. It was developed by Karuna Pharmaceuticals and later acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb. This drug is significant because it is the first in 70 years to work in a different way. Instead of blocking dopamine, it targets other receptors in the brain. Clinical trial results were very promising, but some experts caution that these studies were short. More research is needed to confirm Cobenfy's safety and effectiveness for treating a lifelong condition."
